How to sign up and get an API key
🌐 Signup from overseas (English)
Moonshot AI's portal is Chinese-only. Install this before starting signup so you can read the console, docs, and billing pages in your language.
Moonshot's platform (Kimi Open Platform) is primarily in Chinese. You can complete the signup flow from outside China but it's easier with a browser translator. Here's the walkthrough:
- Install Immersive Translate (or your preferred CN→EN extension) before starting — the console is Chinese-only.
- Go to platform.moonshot.cn — we've verified this is the real URL.
- Sign up with WeChat OR email. Email works internationally.
- Complete identity verification. Overseas users can skip the phone-number step and use email verification; some flows ask for a passport scan. Read the console in translation before uploading.
- Top up via Alipay (requires a Chinese Alipay account — use Wise to fund one) or wire transfer. Some overseas users successfully use an international card; success rate is inconsistent.
- Generate an API key under API Keys (API密钥).
